Darcell Davis-Williams
Darcell Y. Davis-Williams grew up in Newark, NJ. She holds a degree in computer science. Soror Darcell is a 2016 retiree working for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for thirty-six years. At retirement, she received the “Albert Gallatin Award” which was presented as evidence of the esteem honor in which The Department of the Treasury thanked her for her years of service.
Darcell has been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for 40 years. She was initiated in Spring 1982 at Kean University in Union, NJ where she joined the Gamma Zeta Chapter, a city chapter serving several colleges throughout New Jersey. Gamma Zeta was the FIRST undergraduate chapter in New Jersey.
Darcell joined the Epsilon Beta Omega Chapter in 2017 and has served the chapter as the Connection Co-Chairman moving quickly in as the Connection Chairman. Darcell has consistently helped EBO connect within the Spartanburg Community through many service projects such as the annual Green Bean Challenge, food collection for the local food kitchen, collecting books to support the chapter’s “Little Free Library, assisting with the annual AKA Day at the Capitol, supporting Spartanburg 2020 Census collection, helping with the Spartanburg Period Project, and helping the community to “Get Out The Vote”. Darcell is very passionate about advocating for voting and voters registration. Darcell currently serves as the Advocate for Social Justice Program Initiative Lead and in many capacities for our Pink Rose Cotillion.
In 2021, Darcell was awarded the SAR Cluster VIII Xanthene Norris Program Award for Community Service.
She currently enjoys volunteering within the community in organizations such as League of Women Voters, Spartanburg Democratic Party, Westside NAACP, Chapman Cultural Center, Spartanburg Regional Hospital & Nursing Homes Therapy Dog services, and Science Happens 4 Me North Carolina.
